Luxury British boutique hotel group Firmdale Hotels have installed Aquavision televisions in their latest property The Whitby Hotel in New York.  Set in Midtown Manhattan, The Whitby Hotel is Firmdale’s second New York hotel. A celebration of contemporary art and design, the hotel comprises 86 individually designed bedrooms and suites over 16 floors and is just two blocks from Central Park and on the doorsteps of Museum of the Moving Image.

Aquavision are very proud to be associated with the group and to have been selected to provide the televisions for the hotel bathrooms.  They first supplied bathroom televisions to the Charlotte Street Hotel in London many years ago and have continued to provide televisions and upgrades to all the hotels. The suites in The Whitby Hotel feature beautifully designed granite or marble bathrooms as well as the 22” Genesis Aquavision televisions, free standing baths, double basins and walk in showers.

The Genesis model features Freeview tuner, two HDMI inputs, Scart, Component and a built-in amplifier.  It is available 16″, 22″, 27″, 32″ or 42″screens.  All Aquavision televisions are manufactured in their own factory in the UK and feature heated screens to avoid misting up.  All products are suitable to install in bathrooms, showers and wet room as they are fully waterproof to IP66 rating when installed according to the instructions and carry a two year in-home warranty as standard (in the UK).

The privately owned hotel group comprises ten award winning luxury hotels in central London and New York. In London’s West End there is the Ham Yard Hotel which opened in 2014, The Soho Hotel, Covent Garden Hotel, Charlotte Street Hotel and Haymarket Hotel as well as the three townhouse properties, Dorset Square Hotel in Marylebone, Knightsbridge Hotel near Harrods and Number Sixteen in South Kensington. Crosby Street Hotel opened in New York’s SoHo in 2009 and The Whitby earlier this year.

“Hotels should be living things not stuffy institutions” maintain Tim and Kit Kemp, owners of Firmdale Hotels. There are eight boutique hotels in London and two in New York. The high standards of excellence and unique townhouse style of decoration have over the years added up to a winning combination. Kit Kemp has designed the interiors of each hotel in her unique personal way which reflects a fresh, modern English style. She was named the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year in 2008 and has gone onto win many more accolades. Firmdale Hotels has received the Queens Award for Enterprise in 2000, 2006 and 2009, a recognition of its outstanding achievement to international trade.
